"The Red Door"

A few weeks ago I posted a "Top Secret" post on a project my husband and I were doing (see photo above). Yesterday the project was complete! I'm not sure Mr. J is totally sold on it but I LOVE it! I would love to hear your opinion :)

My love for vintage items is very evident to anyone who knows me, hence my blog name, Attic Inspired Crafter.

This part of our garden is actually at the entrance to our long driveway. Chose red as that's the colour of our other house doors, the shelf on the door is from old barn boards, the little basket and heart on door were purchased for pennies at a yard sale. The picket fence is from pallets. So in total this project costs $22.

A few more photo's of this project. It will be so much fun to decorate for each season!

This is another project Mr. J did using pallet boards. Got this idea from pinterest and it sits between two large flowers bed.

Fun Interactive Cards

This year I had two grad cards to make and I just couldn't wait to use this fun die and stamp set from Technique Tuesday. Now that the recipients have received the cards I can now share :)

It's the Pull Strip Die and the Smile Border Stamps on top which fits perfectly with many different options. I also used Tim Holtz/Sizzix Celebration Words die for the word "Congrats", the graduation hat was hand drawn and cut.

Please check with your LSS for the products used here if you like to have them for yourself.

Gardener Album/Journal

With Fathers Day around the corner I thought I would design something for the man in your life. With that said this is the perfect gift for any Gardner!

Using paper from Canvas Corp, I had fun creating and colouring!  To watch a video showing the different pages and features of this mini album please click here.

Most Gardner's like to keep track of their planting plan, weather during planting, yield of harvest, etc.  This gift idea covers all that plus gives the recipient a storage case and a very memorable gift from the heart.

Products used from the Canvas Corp:

Printed Burlap; Papers from the The Watering Can line: Garden Sayings; Seed Packets; Birds & Bees ; Bikes & Baskets; Journal Lines; Green & Ivory Lattace; Green & Ivory Dot Reverse; Green & Ivory Ribbon Stripe; Green & Ivory French Linen; Kraft Card Stock

Totally Nifty!

Abby was such a trooper when she had to have her wisdom teeth out and followed instructions to the T. This included wearing not so attractive ice packs. Of course I could resist in taking a few photo's and I waited for almost 3 years before scrapping them :)

I used Basic Grey Hipster line for this and their embellishments and I used the following lay-out from Let's Get Sketchy

Hanging with my Concert Buddy!

Christina is my favorite concert buddy and has been for many years! We try to attend as many as we can and to date haven't done too badly!

This single page lay-out using Kaiser Kraft 75 Cent Collection was done at a Keith Urban concert at the Halifax metro centre. We had awesome seats and enjoyed the show very much! I also used Tim Holtz Framelit Honeycomb, Spellbinder Hexagon, Distress ink Vintage Photo, a background stamp of glass stain and a few wooded embellishments from Maya Road.

To help create the lay-out I used the following sketch from Sketchabilities #124

Herbs Anyone??

I couldn't help but do a post on this very cute Herb Patio Garden I created this year! It does have a crafty sense as I created the sign using Grunge Board Letters and a variety of paints from the Claudine Hellmuth's Line.

I'm thinking of dangling something off the twigs....just not sure what yet! Oh well a work in progress :)

This is one of the simple things in life that makes me very happy.

My Stamping Studio Weekend Crop

With the vast availability of paper crafting events to join and attend in our great Atlantic Provinces (feeling blessed about this), choosing which one(s) to attend can certainly be dependant on a variety of factors. Time, Location, Cost, Who will be there, past experiences, loyalty, etc all play largely into the decision we make.

Since closing my store, I've teamed up with a partner in crime sort-of-speak, and we have made a promise to each other to try as many crops as we can. Going to places that are not familiar to experience others peoples take on what makes a great crop weekend.

The below comments are my own personal thoughts, feelings and opinions which I will share with you. I plan on doing a little summary of all events I go to in the future :)

My Stamping Studio is a sweet, fresh, bright, product packed paper crafting store in Windsor, Nova Scotia.

It truly is haven for anyone looking for papercrafting items.

Three times a year (Jan- May- Oct) Kelly hosts a scrapbooking retreat for Saturday/Sunday at the Super 8 hotel in Windsor. This past May my partner in crime and I {as well as another great friend from NB} took in this crop.

Registration was: $205.85 (this included the tax) based on a double occupancy at hotel.

What did we get for this price:

  • Saturday Nights Hotel fee (if you stay Friday night you will pay for that yourself)

  • Lunch both Saturday

  • A candy bar to die for Saturday Night

  • 1/2 of a 7ft table to crop on

  • Surprises all weekend long of free products & give-a-ways

  • Demo's

What I Loved about this weekend:

  • The Super 8 is a beautiful hotel. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. You have complimentary breakfast each morning and unlimited tea/coffee all day long. They also have a pool if that interests you.

  • The Lunches provided by Kelly were excellent! On Saturday we had pizza/Soda/Dessert & Sunday  we had Build your own cold cut sandwich/Salad/Dessert/Soda. Walked away stuffed and completely satisfied both days!!

  • Candy bar was so pretty and yummy!

  • The give-a-ways Kelly did were beyond any other crops! We received stamps, complete paper packs, embellishments, etc. (See photo) I estimate at least $100 worth of products!

  • How accommodating Kelly was with shopping at the store, staying as late as we wanted to Saturday night, Setting up Friday night.

  • How friendly the crowd was and how easy it was to get to know other croppers

  • Enough room around each table to move around easily and to set up a small table (the size of a TV tray)

  • Very comfortable chairs.

  • The store supplies the Cricut and a Big Shot for your usage.

  • Chance to win a draw for a shopping spree through ticket purchase.

  • Location very handy to eateries and coffee/tea houses :)

  • No classes were offered which was fine with me as I like doing my own thing at these events.

What I didn't like as much:

  • No store on site. With this being said I completely understand why. My Stamping Studio is only 2 mins from the hotel and was available all day Saturday, as well Kelly opened for a "private" shopping spree Saturday evening to those who wanted to go. Kelly did have 3 tables worth of products to shop from at the crop all weekend. On a positive note, it made me be super organized going to the crop which ended up being very productive!!

  • The limited space at the table. Again I completely understand as organizing a crop is a HUGE undertaking and with the limited space at the hotel, in order to accommodate 50 people this is the only option. It took me to mid-day Saturday to get a "flow" going and once I did that I was fine with the space I had. Plus you can bring a little side table if you like.

  • Crop does not include Friday Night (Goes from 9am Sat-whenever Sat Night and Sunday is from 8am-5pm)

The Verdict:

Would I attend again? ABSOLUTELY! I feel the positives out weighs the negatives big time. I can't wait for the next round!! Bring it on :)

Next adventure is the Gadget Girls Fall Crop 2015!

Celebrating 50 years!

Last July was my in-laws 50th Wedding Anniversary. Their only request was not to have a huge party, just to have a family gathering and that is what we did :)

I used MME Now & Then paper line and embellishments to create this double page lay-out.

A few close ups

I used the following lay-out created by Scrapclubs for inspiration for this project.
