 Hi everyone,

I am very excited about this new adventure with a new design team called Stick it down! This team of wonderful designers use a sketch to create single pages, double pages and cards each month. Fairy Magic

The star of this show is Lavinia Stamps. You can find out all about them by following the link attached to the name.

My local Scrapbooking Store carries them and I will be honest at first I was ...nahhhh...fairies are not my thing. What changed my mind was watching all the tutorials and videos available through Lavinia and seeing the magic happen. Not only how these stamps brings life to your projects but how well they combine with all the other mix media products I have already.

These were the steps in my process in creating these cards:

1. Play day of creating backgrounds using distress oxides, gellie plate and paints- please visit Tim Holtz page and watch videos on using distress inks for inspiration

2. Another play day of elevating those backgrounds by adding texture with stencils and Distress Inks

3. The next play day was choosing which backgrounds I liked and starting the stamping using Lavinia Stamps. (p.s. never throw away "unusable backgrounds" as they are fabulous for die cutting) This day I also had time to then use coloring pencils (just regular ol' Walmart brand) and do some highlighting of the stamps and images. **Before moving to the next step it is important to ensure backgrounds are completely dry**

4. Using my Heidi Swapp Minc machine and using Toner pen and spray, I added foil to some of the cards (tried to show this in the photo's as much as I could)

5. Last day- putting the cards together and adding the sentiments

Sounds like a lot???? I was in no hurry to have finished products and for me it was relaxing and fun. Whenever I finish a big project (see the last blog post!) I find I need time away from creating with purpose and just move towards play for a while. Give it a try!

Here are the final cards:

Exploding Box RCMP Style

To honor our son who became a member of the RCMP this year, I created this memorabilia for him.

We couldn't attend his well deserved ceremony due to the pandemic but we made the most of it and celebrated with him in spirit, that is for sure!

The create to this design goes to Martha Tucker. She is a wonderful crafter and shares her free tutorials over on you tube. Here is the link to her channel and to this particular project.

The paper line used is from Blue Fern called Memories and the decorated elements were from my stash and mostly from Tim Holtz.

You can also watch the unveiling of this project by viewing it here on my you tube channel.

This Happened!

Year 2020 has, thus far, been a roller coaster ride for the entire world. For us there has been some very bright moments and this is one of them.

Our son persevered his dream career and now we get the privileged of calling him  Cst. J Jackson.

Patiently waiting for the "good photos" as we were not permitted to go to ceremonies due to the pandemic so making due with these not perfect, but perfect to me photo's.

Paper line: A very old BoBunny line called Somewhere in Time, BoBunny Double Dot Vintage
Vicki Boutin: Foundations Paper, embellishments
Tim Holtz: Inks, ephemera (note the name on the card...JACKSON..wouldn't believe it!); stamps
Other items: Stitching, twine

Vicki Boutin- Wild Flower and Honey on line class

On May 31, 2020 Vicki offered an on line class for 2 double page layouts using her paperline, Wild Flower and Honey.

You all know I am a huge fan of hers. Not because she designs wonderful products or she is famous in the crafting world, but because she is as real as it gets, she is honest about her journey and she is just a wonderful human being!

Thank you Vicki for everything you do to make this world a better place <3 Here's the link to her page:

Here are the two lay-outs she designed and how I used them to record my/families lives.

Our son and his Special lady- they are a great pair and we are rather attached...Just saying Josh :)
Some fun photo's of them at work and at play.

On National Scrapbooking Day 2019 Me and my best scrap gals had the opportunity to participate in a live class with the one and only- Vicki Boutin . My Stamping Studio in Windsor, NS hosted the event and it was not a disappointment! Thought it fitting to scrap these photo's on the very layout class given by the same fabulous lady

Challenge! Everyone can be a card maker!

Happy Sunday everyone!

I follow Vicki Boutin regularly and she is one of the hugest influencers in letting loose and just playing. She is real, honest and passionate about art, in all forms.

If any of you are like me this is challenging! I always want to know what the finish project will be so getting out of this comfort of "planning" is outside my comfort zone. But I am doing it and loving the new found freedom!

Lately I played with alcohol inks and Lavinia Stamps. I messed around with these for a full afternoon and in the end I didn't "love" any of them enough to use for cards. But my goodness I had fun and I learned about the products and substrates.

Yesterday I wanted to create by not really put much thought into it so I put on a movie, spotted the beautiful but somewhat out of control collection of Vicki Boutin embellishments (see photo below ;)
and my tossed aside card fronts from the day of play.

Without any thought I started to pull pieces that matched the color palette on the card fronts, some dimensional tape and magic happened!

I now LOVE these cards!

Start with play ( I know the kool-aid drinkers out there with several backgrounds that can be cut down to card size) and then pull in embellishment pieces- ANYONE can do this!

Check out the dimension on these cards with the layering!

As always I hope this inspires you to create!
