Feel like I haven't been here for a long time but I've been crafting away!

A little behind in uploading the latest class/project creations but very UTD over on facebook or what I refer to as The Face.

If you ever wanted to know how to create a beautiful, one of a kind, wall worthy art project then wonder no more.

In these 2 long videos I'll walk you through step by step how to use items from your stash to make magic.

2024 Journal Art

This year I will be doing journal art on a regular base. Once a quarter I will do live facebook over at Younique Scrapbook Store where we will make gel prints for the upcoming 3 months. We will use color pallets from the color box, and we will have some messy fun! Catch up by watching our gel print class for January, February and March of 2024. Underwater Sea- Mix Media Project

This was a fun project to make, one that continued to change into something unique and one of a kind.

All I knew was I wanted to create a cube. The rest came from playing with mix media products.

Fairy Magic

The star of this show is Lavinia Stamps. You can find out all about them by following the link attached to the name.

My local Scrapbooking Store carries them and I will be honest at first I was ...nahhhh...fairies are not my thing. What changed my mind was watching all the tutorials and videos available through Lavinia and seeing the magic happen. Not only how these stamps brings life to your projects but how well they combine with all the other mix media products I have already.

These were the steps in my process in creating these cards:

1. Play day of creating backgrounds using distress oxides, gellie plate and paints- please visit Tim Holtz page and watch videos on using distress inks for inspiration

2. Another play day of elevating those backgrounds by adding texture with stencils and Distress Inks

3. The next play day was choosing which backgrounds I liked and starting the stamping using Lavinia Stamps. (p.s. never throw away "unusable backgrounds" as they are fabulous for die cutting) This day I also had time to then use coloring pencils (just regular ol' Walmart brand) and do some highlighting of the stamps and images. **Before moving to the next step it is important to ensure backgrounds are completely dry**

4. Using my Heidi Swapp Minc machine and using Toner pen and spray, I added foil to some of the cards (tried to show this in the photo's as much as I could)

5. Last day- putting the cards together and adding the sentiments

Sounds like a lot???? I was in no hurry to have finished products and for me it was relaxing and fun. Whenever I finish a big project (see the last blog post!) I find I need time away from creating with purpose and just move towards play for a while. Give it a try!

Heartfelt Handbag- Fall Style

Think we are really fortunate to have four distinct seasons! We get to enjoy new transitions, colours and temperatures.

Purchased my Heartfelt Creations bag last Winter/Spring so I decked it out with Spring/Summer mix media art. Now I get to resign and flip those inserts into the fall theme.

The front pocket is deep which allows for lots of dimension. This is fantastic for the star of the show...The Heartfelt Sunflower!

And the back is perfect for flat art work

Tombow Dual Tip Markers are the show stoppers as these are what I used to add all the colour you see with exception to the edges which was done with Tim Holtz Distress Ink- Vintage Photo.

Markers used were: #991, #098, #905, #027, #026, #977, #879 and #992

Along with the markers the other product that is a must whenever adhering paper to chipboard, cardboard or wood is Tombow Aqua Glue...it is the absolute best!!

Modern Mix Media Art

Lately I've been seeing a lot of mix media based on faces. My fascination has grown so this past weekend I decided to create my first piece of what I call Modern Art.

For the base I used a piece of wood approximately 14"x 8" x 2". I then covered with left over paper and created on top making more and more layers of paints, sprays, inks, stamps, stencilling, modelling paste, inktense pencils...etc. until I was happy with the results. The best part about creating on wood is that if you hate it you can sand it off and start over (ummmm I did that twice :)

The face was hand drawn and I have to admit I am very pleased with the end result.

I can't wait to do this again!

 

For the love of Music

Once again I like to share a 11"x14" canvas I created using a variety of products. Such products include: Distress paints, Time Holtz tissue paper; Tim Holtz Stencils, Modelling Paste, 6x6 paper pad.
